Dermaplus // Rebranding, Web Site Redesign, and Print Campaign

Dermaplus is a San Francisco-based, neighborhood skin and body spa that has been delivering beautiful skin to clients in the Marina/Cow Hollow district since 2001. Dermaplus approached SomeThumb Web Design & Development in the fall of 2012 for help with updating its web site and overall brand presentation–the project is a good example of SomeThumb’s end-to-end capabilities, having involved marketing strategy as well as full-out web and print design.

The Problem

At the time that SomeThumb began working with Dermaplus, the current web site was several years old, and did not tell an updated story of product offerings and customer experience. Dermaplus clients and prospective clients were learning about the emerging spectrum of Dermaplus offerings, primarily through word of mouth. SomeThumb aimed to carve out a self-service online presence that allowed users to browse a complete, compelling set of information about Dermaplus, independently.

The Solution

Ground-up design and print work was needed in order to reshape the Dermaplus brand identity, to showcase the latest products in the most desirable format, and to develop new marketing collateral for the entire product line. A “facelift” that would integrate updated brand goals and brand image was greatly needed, as was the rethinking of how to roll still-relevant content forward. The SomeThumb strategy took all technical and strategic requirements into account.

The Result

SomeThumb redesigned the site in such a way that the color palette, supporting art work, visual flow, and user experience captured Dermaplus brand identity elements. The solution aligned with the Dermaplus goal for users to connect immediately with the peace and tranquility of the spa, even via an online experience. From a content perspective, SomeThumb created space to showcase key messages that Dermaplus wished visitors to know; offerings like custom-blended products now had a chance to come to the fore.  Finally, SomeThumb led a logo redesign that impacted both web site presentation and print design. Further graphic design completed by SomeThumb related to product labels, which received a facelift as well.

Dermaplus has been featured in Allure Magazine as “Best Facial” and “Best” Waxing winner, as well as on Daily Candy and Goop.
